Name P04 - Flood delineation

Description The flood delineation product provides a comprehensive assessment of the flood event. The product covers both coastal and inland events type. Inland floods can result from a disruption to natural or man-made dams, catastrophic melting of ice and snow, rain, river ice jams and/or excessive runoff. Coastal floods are caused by extreme sea levels, which arise as combination of factors: waves, astronomical tides, storm surges, and relative mean sea level as well as the additional influence of river discharge may also be important in some estuaries. The product is directly derived from image data acquired as soon as possible after the emergency event and consists of an observed water extent. It is additionally refined using digital elevation model data and may be used to analyse recent and past events. Within a single activation more than one delineation product is allowed. This product may be used in the recovery phase of the disaster management cycle. The product belongs to the Risk and Recovery component, Standard category.
