Acronym
Description	Environmental crime refers to acts that breach environmental legislation and cause significant harm or risk to the environment and human health. Because of the scale of the impact, the transboundary nature and the huge economic value it has for organised crime groups, environmental crime has to be addressed at an EU level to ensure that member states work closely together. The Copernicus SESA Service provides evidence of infringement of environmental laws and is able to conduct the assessment of environmental damage based on EO data, providing services to users in several cases (e.g. Waste Facility monitoring, Forest Cover changes).
