| Description |
The GHS-AGE spatial raster dataset provides global gridded estimates of the dominant age of the built stock, representing the approximate construction period of buildings across the world. Derived from multi-temporal GHS-BUILT-S data (1975–2020), it identifies the epoch in which 50% of the built-up surface observed in 2020 was exceeded for the first time in each grid cell. The dataset covers the period from 1975 to 2020 and is available at spatial resolutions of 100 m and 1 km, with temporal intervals of 5 and 10 years. The data can support urban studies, building stock analysis, energy efficiency assessments and disaster risk management. Further information on the methodology can be found in the GHS-AGE technical report (https://op.europa.eu/en/publication-detail/-/publication/b6e9a63d-135c-11f0-b1a3-01aa75ed71a1/language-en). |
