| Description |
The Carta de Ocupação do Solo Conjuntural (COSc) is an annual land-cover dataset produced by the Portuguese Directorate-General for Territory (DGT) as part of the Land Cover Monitoring System (SMOS). It provides a 10 m resolution raster classification of mainland Portugal based on Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, machine-learning techniques and expert rules. The map includes forest and other vegetation classes and is designed to complement Portugal’s more detailed structural land-use and land-cover map (COS). Annual editions support land-cover monitoring and change analysis, while additional pre-summer editions provide earlier updates for forest and shrubland areas. |
