Name Croatian National Spatial Data Infrastructure (Geoportal NIPP‑a)
Description The Geoportal NIPP-a represents the operational core of Croatia’s National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NIPP), managed by the State Geodetic Administration (Državna geodetska uprava – DGU). Its main purpose is to make spatial data produced by Croatian public institutions accessible, searchable, and interoperable. Through the portal, users can consult a national metadata catalogue that describes hundreds of geospatial datasets compliant with the European INSPIRE standards. These datasets cover areas such as: basic cartography (orthophotos, topographic maps, cadastral parcels); administrative boundaries and territorial units; infrastructure networks (roads, hydrography, public utilities); land use and land cover; environment and protected areas. Each dataset is accompanied by structured information and is often linked to web services that enable direct visualization or download of data within GIS software. The actual availability of datasets varies. Moreover, the quality of metadata and the frequency of updates depend on the commitment and capacity of the individual participating institutions.
