| Description |
The Bioclimatic Map of Sardinia was developed by ARPAS – the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection of Sardinia – in collaboration with the University of Sassari (Department of Natural and Land Sciences) and the University of Basilicata (School of Agricultural, Forestry, Food, and Environmental Sciences). It covers the entire territory of the autonomous region of Sardinia, dividing the island into 43 bioclimatic types, or "isobioclimates." The criteria are based on the "Worldwide Bioclimatic Classification System" proposed by Antonio Rivas Martínez. The data used to create the map are: minimum, maximum, and monthly average temperatures from 68 thermopluviometric stations, monthly precipitation from 203 rainfall stations, GIS processing with a resolution of ~40 m for some maps, and cartographic release at a scale of 1:250,000. |
