Land Use and Occupation Charter Portugal (Carta de Uso e Ocupação do Solo (COS)) is a spatial dataset, produced by DGT (Directorate-General for Territorial), represents the thematic map of land use and land cover for mainland Portugal for the year 2018 and was prepared to be made available as Linked Open Data (LOD) in RDF format within the scope of the Cross-Forest project. COS is a map of polygons with a defined minimum cartographic unit (1 ha) with a distance between lines equal to or greater than 20 m. COS is based on photointerpretation and has a nomenclature with more than 80 classes. The limits of COS2018 on the border with Spain are those of the Official Administrative Map of Portugal (CAOP) version 2018 and on the sea side are defined by photointerpretation. COS is produced for several years without specific periodicity (for example, 1990, 1995, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2018).
