Note There are currently three active BGEP moorings, all located in the Beaufort Gyre. These moorings under the sea-ice are equipped with Upward Looking Sonars (ULS) ultrasonic distance sensors. They measure the draft of the sea-ice, i.e. the height of the emerged part of the ice.
