Name European Settlement Map
Description The European Settlement Map is a spatial raster dataset that is mapping human settlements in Europe based on satellite imagery from the Satellite Pour l'Observation de la Terre (SPOT), namely SPOT5 and SPOT6. The latest version ESM_2015 Release 2019 is published in two layers: Built-up areas at a spatial resolution of 2 meters, and Classification of the built-up areas into residential and non-residential at a spatial resolution of 10 meters. The previous version ESM_2012 Release 2015 is available at spatial resolutions of 2.5m, 10m and 100m. It has been produced with Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL) technology by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre, Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen.
