HARMONIE-AROME Integrated Forecast System |
Note |
HARMONIE-AROME numerical weather prediction system at 2,5 km horizontal mesh using a 3-dimensional variational assimilation scheme for the upper air analysis and a three-hourly update frequency. The reanalysis production will be carried out at the high-performance computing facility of ECMWF. The reanalysis products will be made available to the public at the end of the project in 2021.
This dedicated Arctic reanalysis will use global reanalysis data from ERA5 as boundary forcing, and will with its 2.5 km mesh provide more local detail than the coarser resolution products of the ERA5 global reanalysis. It is also expected to add value by using higher resolution sea ice, glacier and physiography datasets, by using local observation datasets available from partner institute archives and by generally less thinning of the satellite observation data sets.
