High Resolution Layer - Permanent Water Bodies (PWB) and Wetlands (WET) 2012 |

PWB and WET products are extracted from high resolution (HR) satellite data and other available data sources for the area of the EEA39 (39 member states and affiliated countries to the European Environment Agency). The original 20m products map the occurrence of permanent water bodies and wetlands, as a binary product (wetland/non-wetland), with no MMU (Minimum Mapping Unit) and a 20 m MMW (Minimum Mapping Width). To map permanent water bodies and wetlands, multi-temporal imagery from 2006, 2009 and 2012, as well as a seasonal time series of medium-resolution (MR) images, are used in production. Wetlands and Permanent Water Bodies are produced using the same workflow basing on multi-temporal imagery.
The final products are generated using an automatic algorithm, resulting in a 100 x 100 m product of occurrence of permanent water bodies and occurrence of wetlands (0- 100%). |
