Data details

Name Global Forest Change
Note Results from time-series analysis of Landsat images characterizing tree cover extent and change. Trees are defined as vegetation taller than 5m in height and are expressed as a percentage per output grid cell as ‘2000 Percent Tree Cover’ (tree cover perecentage in the reference year 2000). ‘Forest Cover Loss’ is defined as a stand-replacement disturbance, or a change from a tree-covered to non-tree-covered state, during the period 2000–2019. ‘Forest Cover Gain’ is defined as the inverse of loss, or a non-tree-covered to tree-covered change entirely within the period 2000–2012. ‘Forest Loss Year’ is a disaggregation of total ‘Forest Loss’ to annual time scales. Requirements

Requirement Level of compliace Note Information costs Handling costs Created on Last modified on
Land Cover - Forest Partially Supports training sample selection, plausibility checks and final Quality Control (QC) steps of current Forest Type product, but limited in timeliness due to lacking information on update frequency. April 9, 2018, 4:05 p.m. Dec. 16, 2020, 9:48 a.m.
Land Cover Partially April 9, 2018, 4:05 p.m. Dec. 16, 2020, 9:48 a.m.
Land Cover - Grassland Partially Useful for training sample selection and identification. But thematic Focus on Change. Only partially compliant due to low resolution and lacking update. April 9, 2018, 4:05 p.m. Dec. 16, 2020, 9:48 a.m.
